The Tides Institute of Eastport Maine will showcase work by artists working in the 1920's and 1930's in the Passamaquoddy Bay region. Robert Craig's work will be in this exhibition, scheduled September 8 through November 5, 2006.

Two Nudes. Watercolor with ink on paper, framed under glass. Scene depicts a pair of female nudes in a lush green setting. One appears to be drying off as though just having bathed. Figures refined through pen and ink detailing. Signed lower right. Paper measures approx. 12-1/4" x 9". In beige mat and rough wooden frame, entire item measures approx. 20-3/4" x 16-3/4". Provenance: From a prominent Cleveland, Ohio estate. Brockman was a California born painter who studied under painters Gifford Beal and John Sloan at the Art Students League in New York City.

"Dictionnaire National" is an advertisement of a popular publication and features a young woman reading the journal placed on the Roman column pedestal. "Saxoleine" is an advertisement for safe lamp oil and features a young lady in the red dress and the yellow hat holding a lit oil lamp with green shade.

Both labels are high quality lithographs with gaufrage. "Madame Butterfly" print is enclosed with embossed gold leaf cartouche. Publisher unknown. Paper measures approx. 6-1/2" x 8-1/2". "Socrates" features his portrait enclosed with an embossed gilt trimmed wreath with blue ribbons, "Know thyself" quote is below the image. Top left corner has a price cartouche "5 c Straignt." Printed by the Schlegel Lithographing corporation, New York. Overall paper measures approx. 7" x 9."
