Provenance: From a prominent Cleveland, Ohio estate. Brockman was a California born painter who studied under painters Gifford Beal and John Sloan at the Art Students League in New York City.

"Saxoleine" is an advertisement for safe lamp oil and features a young lady in the red dress and the yellow hat holding a lit oil lamp with green shade.

Both labels are high quality lithographs with gaufrage. "Madame Butterfly" print is enclosed with embossed gold leaf cartouche. Publisher unknown. Paper measures approx. 6-1/2" x 8-1/2". "Socrates" features his portrait enclosed with an embossed gilt trimmed wreath with blue ribbons, "Know thyself" quote is below the image. Top left corner has a price cartouche "5 c Straignt." Printed by the Schlegel Lithographing corporation, New York. Overall paper measures approx. 7" x 9."
