349. A Peachbloom Brushwash, Mark and Period of Kang Xi
Official-ware, well-potted, compressed globular form with small foot, the exterior under a speckled copper glaze of mottled pink color with mushroom tone and mottled green; the rim, interior and base glazed white. Ink residue on under-side on interior rim. Six character kaishu mark and period of the Kangxi emperor in underglaze blue in horizontal script, under glaze. With carved lit and base. Apprx 1-3/8"T. Displayed at the Cleveland Museum of Art, "Exhibition of Chinese Ceramics". Registrar's CMA tag #TR 6390.

350. A Peachbloom Beehive Waterpot, Kang Xi Period
Hemispherical domed form on a wide flat base, incised with three medallions of scrolling archaistic dragons visible beneath the glaze, ranging from blush-red to dusky pink. Glaze application uneven and not reach the bottom entirely at the base. Six character kaishu mark and period of the Kangxi emperor in underglaze blue in horizontal script, under glaze. Countersunk-base and interior glazed white. With carved lid and base. Apprx 2-3/4"T.
Waterpots of this shape, which are known as Taibo zun after the Tang dynasty poet Li Taibo, or as qizhao zun because their shape resembles that of a chicken coop.

All of Shanmu wood from South East China. The first panel has carved flower supports and shapes with round glass medallions. Not stained or finished, apprx 41-1/4" x 41". Second panel has a medium brown stain with carved wood lattice, apprx 39-13/16" x 41-1/4". Third panel of similar carving with reddish stain, slightly smaller measuring apprx 37-1/4" x 38-5/8".
