| 125. William Edward Ward (American/Cleveland School, born 1922)
Untitled seascape with choppy waters. Oil on Academy board, signed on the lower right corner, not framed. Image measures approx. 22" x 29". William Edward Ward was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 4th, 1922. He studied at the Western Reserve University, where he graduated from in 1948 with the Master's of Arts degree. He continued his education at the Cleveland Institute of Art receiving a diploma in 1947, and later graduated from Columbia University in 1950. He worked at the Cleveland Museum of Art; Akron Art Institute, Ohio; Cleveland Art Association; Cleveland Trust Bank. His commissions include: Firemen's Memorial Sculpture, Cleveland Fire Department, 1968. He designed the official seal for School of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University in 1969. He also executed a mural at the Harris Corporation in Cleveland 1975. His exhibitions and one-man shows include: Painting and photography, Cleveland Institute of Art, 1948; Acrylic and watercolors at the Ross Widen Gallery Cleveland, 1973. Cleveland Institute of Art Faculty Exhibitions through out 1960's. William Ward's works are in permanent collection of Cleveland Museum of Art. Some of the awards for Ward's works include First Prize in Textile design, Cleveland Museum of Art May Show, 1957, Cleveland Cleveland Area Arts Council, 1975. 100/200 Sold $51.75 back to catalog |
