| 121. John Willilam Bentley (American, 1880 - 1951)
Country Scene in Winter. Oil on canvas, signed lower left corner, framed in a carved-corner frame in gold tone finish. Canvas size is 20" x 16", overall with frame 24" x 20". A rosy sunrise is depicted warming a wintry scene with a cabin among tall graceful trees near a river. Purchased from The Little Terrace Gallery, New York-New Hope, circa late 1960's. John Bentley is most known for his landscapes and flower still lives. He studied at the Art Students League with George Bridgman, Frank DuMond, and Robert Henri. He exhibited at the Buffalo Society of Artists and was an early member of the Woodstock Art Colony.
