952. A Very Fine Russian Sterling Case, Marked Marshak, ca. 1900 and Another Fine Russian Sterling Silver Case, dated 1880

Marked by Russian retailer of fine silver, S. Marshak, who took over the 26th Artel. Hinged lid with raised decoration of two kylix and swan over swags with rosettes and ribbons. Lower left corner embellished Cyrillic letters rose and yellow gold, probably he givers and receivers initials. Interior hallmarked with retailer mark and 84 zolotniks hallmark with right profile head wearing diadem. Probable gold washed interior. Approx. 9/16"T x 3-5/8" x 2-1/2"W. Second silver case chased like a leather trunk with straps, assayers marks quite visible but the Cyrillic makers letters are not, possibly D I or DN. 3/4"T x 3-3/4"L x 2-1/8"D.
