350. A Peachbloom Beehive Waterpot, Kang Xi Period

Hemispherical domed form on a wide flat base, incised with three medallions of scrolling archaistic dragons visible beneath the glaze, ranging from blush-red to dusky pink. Glaze application uneven and not reach the bottom entirely at the base. Six character kaishu mark and period of the Kangxi emperor in underglaze blue in horizontal script, under glaze. Countersunk-base and interior glazed white. With carved lid and base. Apprx 2-3/4"T. Waterpots of this shape, which are known as Taibo zun after the Tang dynasty poet Li Taibo, or as qizhao zun because their shape resembles that of a chicken coop.
