457. Pair of Chandeliers, ca. 17th/18th Century.
A magnificent pair of possibly Netherlandish pewter and brass chandeliers. Crenelated corona above a tier of scrolls supporting single shaped endings on a baluster stem, supporting eight scroll candle-arms above a baluster body. Comes with newer silk shades. Apprx 36"T x 38"W. Possibly from the Severance estate, Cleveland, Ohio. Ex-collection: The Austin Company, Cleveland, Ohio. The Austin Company was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1878 by Samuel Austin. The headquarters remain in Cleveland, Ohio. Austin operates through offices located in major U.S. cities and London.

458. Impressive Fireplace Screen & Fender, ca. early 20th Century
Two items offered together as one lot. First a French Rococo style fender. Two "C" scrolls supported seated cherubic putti, with long branch extending overhead. Wave and rosette pierced open panel connect the two, apprx 23-1/2"T x 47"L x 6"D. Next, an American style Empire piece manufactured by the M.L. Company of Philadelphia. Polished brass with silvered accents; classical head in profile and winged panther surmounted oversized paw. Pierced fan opens and collects in center bracket. Apprx 32"T, base 14"L x 12-1/2"D. Fan open, apprx 48-1/2"W.

460. A Tortoise Boulle Inlay Tantalus, French, ca. 19th Century
An antique Louis XV style tantalus with brass and tortoise shell inlay on ebonized wood rosewood. Bow front and small bun feet and inlay of brass banding. Interior with have tiered, lift-out compartment which holds 16 cordials and four stoppered decanters. With key. Two decanters do not match; with gilt decoration. Approx. 10-1/2"T x 9-1/2"D x 12-1/4"W.

461. An early 19th Century Embroidered Picture
A fabulous embroidered picture, ca. 1810, done in silk embroidery on a silk painted background, with hand painting on the embroidery as well. It is framed in a shadowbox frame with spacers to keep the thread from pressure by the glass. It is sewn in a variety of threads including silk, wool, and cotton. The painting as well as the needlework is exceptional in quality and preservation. Note the silk tassels on the lady's shawl. The sight size of the image is approx. 11" x 11". With the gold leafed frame the overall size is approx. 16" x 15-1/2". The frame is older and has a beaded inner rim with a ribbon trim and rope at the outside. It is surmounted by two "ears" at the top with cast rosettes at either side and a foliate top with a stringed instrument and sheet music scroll in gilt gesso. * Pittsburgh gallery

462. An early 19th Century Silk Embroidery
A wonderful picture of a small girl entirely embroidered in silk thread. This meticulously embroidered picture, ca. 1810, shows a smiling child carrying a basket of fruit, shown in a landscape. A small dog peeks from her gathered up apron and another nips at her hem. She stands next to an intricately embroidered tree with vines and foliage and a forest can be seen in the distance to the right. Her bonnet is tied to her waist. This embroidery is done with crisp detailing an a great deal of skill. It is framed in an older 1-1/2" wide coved frame with a rubbed gilt finish. and a painted outside. The sight size is 11" x 7-3/4"; with frame the overall size is 13-3/4" x 10-3/4". This genre of embroidered picture were worked by women, most usually copying a painting or a print of a painting.

Finely polished elongated bowl carved out of a large piece of semi-precious green moss agate, with smoky quartz and other inclusions. Slightly wavy edge. 476. A Calf Leather Prohibition Case with Oversized Flasks, Designed by James Dixon for the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. New York
The natural calf leather prohibition case with two plated silver flasks fitted inside. The locking case has a leather handle and has top stitching. The interior is lined The interior of the case is divided into two sections, each in padded suede leather, fitting exactly around the flasks with screw tops. The screw tops have cork inside. The plain rectangular flasks are marked "Abercrombie & Fitch Co. New York Made in England, with hallmarks "JD&S" and other numbers stamped into the metal. The flasks each measure 12" x 8" x 2-1/4". The case overall measures 17-3/4" x 13-3/4" x 3". The black fabric covering of this piece has kept the leather case in very good condition.
