"Cunnard & Co. S.S. 'Persia' 3700. Tons." Watercolor on paper mounted onto matboard, not signed, matted in a newer non-acidic mat and framed in a nice period frame with walnut veneer and a gilt liner, under glass, image size 7-1/2" x 12", with frame overall 16" x 19". The painting is titled in pencil on the lower center margin, now covered by the matting. The current mat has a somewhat different title inscribed in ink. This is a nice ship's portrait in the traditional manner with the main part of the composition being a full broadside image of the steamer/sidewheeler in full sail and flying the British flag. Fore and aft are pictured tiny images of other ships.
