The image depicts an older man making notes in his book, and a profile of a lady to the left of him; large cupboard is in the background. Edouard Vuillard is one of the most famous Post-impressionist artists. He was active in Nabi movement, which became very influential in French graphic arts. Vuillard's works are in major museum collections of the world, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia; The National Gallery, London, UK; Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio, USA; Tate Gallery, London, UK.
