866. Chinese Metal and Carved Bone Master Snuff Bottle
A Chinese Master Snuff Bottle, of unknown metal which has oxidized to a mottled brown color, with three like inset panels of carved bone with scenes of figurers in a landscape, and other insets of carved bone with people and floral motifs, also a large number of inset carbachons of bone and a few possibly of turquoise, with a dipper lid also set with carbachon bone details. Stamped "China" on the bottom. Overall the bottle with sstopper is approx. 9-1/4" high x 3-1/2" wide at the widest point.

869. Jadeite Carving of Kuan Yin with a Child
Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy, to whom women prayed to for babies, traditionally for a baby boy. Hence Kuan Yin as the child giver came to be depicted with a baby boy either in her arms or beside her. This is a very good example of such depiction. Pale green nephrite with reddish yellow coloring skillfully incorporated in to the carving to accent Kuan Yin's hair, child's hat and umbrella. No marks found. Measures approx. 6" x 4".
