183. Unknown Artist (American, 20th Century) Female nude. Oil on canvasboard, no signature found, framed in a contemporary wood frame with a linen liner, canvasboard size 16" x 11-3/4", with frame overall 20-1/4" x 16-1/4". This dainty original illustration of a young nude poses provocatively on a red drape. She is lit from behind with a glowing evening-like blue light, and partially from the front. Her face glows with underlighting. She appears to be caught unawares in nothing but her mules. The image is consistent with "girlie" illustrations of the 1940's-1050's. 200/400 Sold: $517.50 |
