| 23. Nadezhda Andreevna Udaltsova (Russian, 1886-1961)
"Girl in a Red Dress". Oil on canvas; signed and titled in Cyrillic on verso, dated September 1957; canvas measures approx. 40" x 26", overall in a newer stained wood frame 44" x 30". Udaltsova Nadezhda Andreyevna was born in Orel. She lived and worked primarily in Moscow. From 1909 to 1911 Udaltsova studied at various Moscow studios, including K. F. Uona. In 1912 Udaltsova went on to study art for one year in Paris and later worked in Moscow with in "Na bashne" studio with V. E. Tatlin, L.S. Popova, and other artists. Member of such unions and exhibitions: "Diamond Jack" (1914), "Tramway B" (1915), "0.10" (1915-1916), "Magazin" (1916), "World of Art" (1921-1922), "Moscow Artists" (1925), OMX (1928), Group "13" (1931). From 1918 she taught and worked as an assistant to Kazimir Malevich at the State College of Art Mastery. Member of Moscow art collegium. She is the author of landscapes, portraits, still lives, genre paintings, cubic and futuristic works, as well as monumental murals. 18,000/25,000 back to catalog |
