A lot of two bird prints framed as a pair. Lithograph, with colors, each framed with green reverse-painted glass mats. "Turdus Fuscatus" measures approx. 20" x 14" image size, and "Trochalopteron Cineraceum" measures approx. the same; overall with frame, each measures approx. 27-1/2" x 21-3/4". John Gould has become known as one of the foremost orthinological artists. Gould created almost 3000 images that were made into hand-color lightographic plates of birds and other animals. The lithography and hand coloring was done by other artists, among them his wife, Elizabeth Gould, Edward Lear, William Hart, and H.C. Richter, whose names appear with Gould's on each image. The editions of the folios these were presented in were relatively small, adding to their rarity.
