Festival icons were very popular household icons as they included all the scenes for the most important feast days of the Russian Orthodox calendar.
The scenes include: The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, The Presentation of Mary in the Temple, the Annunciation, The Nativity of Christ, the Presentation of Christ in the Temple or the Meeting of the Old and New Testament, The Baptism of Jesus, the Transfiguration, The Entry into Jerusalem or Palm Sunday, Feast of the Transfiguration of Christ, The Ascension, The Dormition of the Mother of God, The Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
