| 24. Alexander Nikolayevich Viezzhev (Russian/Ukranian, 1865-1918)
"Fyodor Shalyapin". Oil on canvas, signed in red pigment on the lower left corner. Frame has a title plaque in Cyrillic. Canvas measures approx. 31" x 21"; framed overall approx. 39" x 29". Fyodor Shalyapin was the world-famous opera singer of the late 19th - early 20th Century. Alexander Viezzhev received his art training at M.D. Rayevskaya art school in Kharkov, now Ukraine. He worked in Kharkov, St. Petersburg in 1900's, and Crimea (his paintings "Alupka" and "Autumn in Crimea" where created there). His painting "Chariot of Life" created in 1907, was exhibited in Paris, where it got excellent reviews. Viezzhev held solo exhibitions in St. Petersburg in 1905 and 1915.
