557. A Pair of Figural Candle Holders In The Style of Dresden A pair of polychromed glazed porcelain figurines of putti in the Dresden style, on mound bases resting on gilded cast metal stands with curvilinear branching arms supporting candle holders, decorated with porcelain roses and metal leaves. One of the porcelain figurine is inscribed "Jules" under the glaze on the base. Both have a cobalt blue mark on the back of the base under the glaze similar to Dresden. This first of the figurines depicts two putti carrying bunches of grapes with a goat nearby. The other depicts two putti with a sheaf of wheat and a lamb; one putto setting a bird to flight. The bottom of the mound bases are finished with a low relief pattern in gilt glaze on the porcelain. Overall with the stand measures approx. 7"T x 12"W x 8"D. 400/600 Sold: $586.50 |
