557. A Pair of Figural Candle Holders In The Style of Dresden


A pair of polychromed glazed porcelain figurines of putti in the Dresden style, on mound bases resting on gilded cast metal stands with curvilinear branching arms supporting candle holders, decorated with porcelain roses and metal leaves. One of the porcelain figurine is inscribed "Jules" under the glaze on the base. Both have a cobalt blue mark on the back of the base under the glaze similar to Dresden. This first of the figurines depicts two putti carrying bunches of grapes with a goat nearby. The other depicts two putti with a sheaf of wheat and a lamb; one putto setting a bird to flight. The bottom of the mound bases are finished with a low relief pattern in gilt glaze on the porcelain. Overall with the stand measures approx. 7"T x 12"W x 8"D.

Dutch style floral still life painting on a porcelain plaque. Signed illegibly in the lower right corner. In a black wood frame with gilt outline and pink velvet mat. Image of the plaque measures approx. 14" x 9-1/2"; framed overall approx. 19" x 14". The plaque has the visual appearance of a pietra dura piece.

An early piece of Crown Derby porcelain, twin handled campana urn vase with Imari influenced decoration of flowers, scrolls and geometric shapes. Overall palette includes cobalt blue, pink, burned orange, pale pink, and others as well gilt accents througout. Over-glaze crown derby puce mark on bottom. Overall measures approx. 8"T x 6-1/2"W at top.
