1004. A Late 19th Century Chinese Cabinet
A Chinese cabinet, ca. late 19th Century, from Zhejiang in southeast China, with a waxed finish in a rich brown elm, probably originally for use in a kitchen, 72"H x 20"D x 41-1/2"W, with an openwork pair of doors on the upper part, enclosing a shelf space, below that three small drawers, below that two panel doors enclosing a shelf space, and at the bottom two panel doors enclosing a large open space. The piece has antique finish brass hardware in the oriental manner with ring pulls and back plates matching.

1011. A Japanese Miniature Chest
A Japanese miniature chest made to resemble a brown lacquer finish with gold-tone detailing, with three drawers below and two doors above covering four drawers inside the top. The cabinet is adorned with carved brass oriental fittings and hinges, and the drawers have curvilinear hinged metal handles, the exterior top and sides painted with patches of gold pigment to resemble gold leaf dust, the bottom drawers painted with gold pigment in flower branches, and the doors have insets of raised gilt images; on one a peacock in a landscape, the other a central large flower with the end of the peacock's tail below. Overall the piece measures approx. 9-3/4"H x 9-3/8"W x 4-1/4"D.
