An unusual 20th Century tantalus, consisting of an open oak platform with aged brass fittings, with a locking mechanism at the top. The locking mechanism at the top holds the cruets confines them. When unlocked the cruets swivel out for use. The tantalus houses two wheel-cut crystal cruets with original stoppers, each approx. 6-1/2"H, ovoid in shape, 5" x 3-1/2", and six wheel-cut shot glasses, four of which are 2-1/2"H and the replacement two are 3"H. Each cut crystal object is held in place by an armature of metal, which was at one time plated to a silver tone, but now is the oxidized brass underneath from repeated polishing. There are also some metal decorative cover plates on the sides which are worn from polishing and lack a few of their tiny screws. The locking mechanism works and has the original key.
