Born in Nova Scotia, Wilkie resided in Massachusetts and was known as an illustrator and landscape painter, having exhibited at the Vose Galleries of Boston MA. His work may be found in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston MA.

Still life with apples. Oil on canvas, signed and dated in the lower right corner, 1899, framed in a wide period frame in bronzed finish, 20" x 30", with framing overall 30-1/2" x 40". A simple composition with a black background silhouetting a fallen bucket of ripe red apples with a kitchen knife next to the tumbled down fruit. The artist's skill is demonstrated in the ability to depict the objects sitting in real space.

A country cottage by a lake. Oil on canvas, signed in the lower right corner, framed in a simple wide wood frame with a gilded liner, 14" x 20" canvas size, with framing overall 20" x 26". One of the artist's most recognizable subjects, he favored painting many views of this idyllic location. The scene features a charming cottage behind a stone fence in late afternoon sun. Ducks traverse a lane at the right, beyond which is seen a placid lake and distant hills. The central figure is an enormous old tree in full summer bloom. There is a sticker on the back of the stretcher from Babcock Gallery in New York, and one from The Bonfoey Company in Cleveland (where it was cleaned and framed about 60 years ago).

A rocky coastal scene with a lighthouse. Oil on canvas, signed and dated in the lower right corner, 9" x 13" canvas size, with older frame overall 14-1/2" x 18-1/2". A nicely rendered scene of waves breaking on a rocky shoreline. There are gulls flying about and sailboats on the horizon. Adding to the narrative is a tiny figure in front of a docked sailboat greeting two figures on shore, one nearby and one higher up on the rocks.

A flirting couple in the woods. Oil on canvas, 9" x 12", framed overall 14" x 17" in a fancy gold-toned frame, signed "Fiori" in the lower right corner. This is an early 20th Century copy of an 18th Century composition depicting a fancy couple engaged in a flirtation on a woodland path. The young woman's basket of apples is strewn about as she coyly reacts to the gentleman's attentions. The spire of a distant church is seen through a clearing to the left adding depth to the composition.

"A Zeeland Peasant Woman". Oil on academy board, signed in the lower left corner, thumb print in red in the lower right corner, framed in a frilly gilt frame with burnished ornaments, 7-1/4" x 6" board size, with frame overall 13-1/4" x 12-1/4". The rosy-cheeked young lady wearing her wedding headdress gazes smilingly toward the viewer, while pointing to a page in a book. She is seated before a table with a red cloth cover, with a delicate ewer of wine and a filled wine glass before her. Art Club of Philadelphia, ca. 1989, exhibition label affixed to verso. Also noted on the label that it was exhibited in New York at the National Academy of Design in the spring of '98.

A tavern serenade. Oil on canvas, signed in the lower right corner, dated 1891, framed in a simple dark bronze finished frame, 35" x 49-1/2", with framing overall 39-1/2" x 55". A monk at the right of the composition observes a jovial musical moment in a tavern setting. There are some lovely details about the entire composition, including a picture of the Madonna and Child behind the monk, a lantern above him, the architectural setting with a fireplace and a copper charger on the mantel, the smoking brazier on the floor in front of the lady, and other accouterments in the room as well as the costumes and poses of the people. The central figures are vividly painted.

Munger was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and lived for most of her productive years in Pass Christian, Mississippi, summering in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Landscape with a peacock. Oil on canvas, signed in the lower right, dated 1918, canvas size 24" x 30", with frame overall 35" x 41". A pretty Impressionist style composition, the pigments applied in a thick vigorous texture with an energetic color palette. Known for oriental theme subjects, Teed studied in London, Paris, and Rome. He exhibited at the Boston Art Club in 1896 and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1912. Teed's paintings are in many permanent museum collections throughout the East coast.

The canvas is also signed on verso and dated 1890, also inscribed "Antwerpen" and "Lentezonne". There is also a stenciled "29" above. This is a lovely scene with the central figure silhouetted by afternoon sunlight. She stands with her rake over one shoulder at the edge of a well manicured garden. A cottage is seen behind her in the distance.
