Very unusual piece of blond celluloid "tortoise shell" box with silver, gilt metal and mother-of-pearl overlay decoration. Interior of the box has a hinged sheet of bone or ivory and a thin pencil for writing. Measures approx. 4"H x 2-3/4"L 5/8"W.

A tortoise shell card case decorated with a overlay of silver along the perimeter and a silver escutcheon. Unidentified hallmarks on the escutcheon. Interior significantly worn. Measures approx. 5-3/4"T x 3-1/4"W x 3/4"L. Tortoise notebook has a picture decoration depicting a cathedral with hand-painting and iridescent accents, handwriting in the notebook; overall measures approx. 4"T x 2-3/4"W x 5/8"D.

An early hand painted ebonized snuff box, 3-5/8" in diameter x 5/8" H, with a charming painting on the lid of two ladies in an interior. One lady is seated and has just finished writing a letter. She hands it to the lady standing behind her. The setting is a bedchamber, with a draped bed at the left, a fancy gilded framed painting on the wall and an open door at the right. Before the seated lady is a pedestal table on which stand writing implements and a letter box and two lit candles in candlesticks. On display in the Pittsburgh PA gallery.

A Russian lacquer box, with a traditional black lacquer exterior, and a red lacquer interior. A painting on the top of the lid of a young prince and his bride riding through a forest atop a wolf, represents a work by Victor Vasnetsov "Ivan Tsarevich Riding the Grey Wolf" 1889, now located at the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, Russia. The box is signed "Feodoshkino '72 / E. Aldashkin" in the lower right corner of the image, 10" x 7-1/2" x 2-3/4". Original tag is included.

A framed pettipoint and needlepoint flower basket, circa late 18th Century or early 19th Century, originally from a fire screen, in soft pastel colors with a dark background, compression mounted in a black painted wooden frame with black wooden backing board, under glass, 19-1/2" x 19-1/2" sight size, with frame overall approx. 21" x 21". This lovely piece of textile work has a slightly stylized quality. The design is complex and intricate.

An early 19th Century silk embroidery on an aqua painted silk background depicting a woman kneeling before a pedestal praying over a hymnal in candle light. The embroidery is framed in a dark painted wooden frame, with a reverse painted black glass mat with an oval opening and a gilded line around the opening and details at the corners. The image is 7-1/2" x 5-3/4", with framing overall 11-1/2" x 9-1/2".

An antique hand made tapestry section, 61" x 29", unsigned, depicting an oriental Pasha and members of his court in the upper part, surrounded by scrolling foliate patterns, connecting to the lower part which depicts an ostrich, a lion, a parrot, and another crested bird. The colors are brown background, with gold, tan, rust and a small amount of muted green.

Vintage flat weave tapestry with a scene depicting four medieval maidens on a leisurely afternoon in a garden and a gentleman kneeling in front of the maiden with a lira; a castle is in the background. The material appears to be cotton. "Made in France" tag stitched to the back of the top right corner. This tapestry measures approx. 65"H x 90"W.

A pair of child's cross stitched samplers, both framed in the same pattern of frame, though one without the glass, the first by Mary Minder, Aged 7 Years, 11-7/8" x 11", with frame 13-1/2" x 12-1/2" overall, the second by Elizabeth Marshall 98 (ca. 1989), 11-1/2" x 9-3/4", with frame 12-7/8" x 11-1/4". Accompanying this lot is a small oval hand colored photograph of Mary Marshall, nee Rinder in a velvet case, with a convex glass cover, and her name taped inside with cellophane tape, overall size approx. 3" x 2".

A Roycroft desk set, bronze patina over brass, consisting of a semi-circular letter holder and a desk blotter with metal corners, all the metals decorated with the "radially hammered" motif. The desk blotter measures 14" x 21", the letter holder 2-7/8" x 5-1/2" x 1-1/2". The letter holder is impressed on the bottom with the Roycroft mark.
