Two very nice carved wood Oriental table top pedestals, each with a burlwood inset into the top, in warm toned natural wood finishes, one a circular drum shape, 10-1/8"H x 8-3/8" diameter top area between lip, the other 6-1/8"H x 6-7/8" square with no lip on the top.

An antique Korean wooden chest, late Meiji Period, 19th Century, in a dark glossy wood finish, 47"W x 28"H x 13-1/2"D, with several drawers and shelves and two panel doors, with carved brass ornaments, hinges, drop pulls, hinged handles and center latch, with the top curving upward at the edges supported by carved fretwork, with curvilinear legs and pierced apron with carved details.

An intricately carved teak stand with four legs, with marble inset in the top, with relief as well as pierced carving in a floral design, in dark brown color, 36"H x 17" at the widest x 10-1/2" diameter top surface.

A Japanese Miniature Chest

1011. A Japanese Miniature Chest


A Japanese miniature chest made to resemble a brown lacquer finish with gold-tone detailing, with three drawers below and two doors above covering four drawers inside the top. The cabinet is adorned with carved brass oriental fittings and hinges, and the drawers have curvilinear hinged metal handles, the exterior top and sides painted with patches of gold pigment to resemble gold leaf dust, the bottom drawers painted with gold pigment in flower branches, and the doors have insets of raised gilt images; on one a peacock in a landscape, the other a central large flower with the end of the peacock's tail below. Overall the piece measures approx. 9-3/4"H x 9-3/8"W x 4-1/4"D.

A pair of antique Japanese woodblock prints in colors, paper size 13-3/4" x 9-3/4", floated in matting and framed under glass, 18-3/4" x 14-3/4" overall with frame. Each has been tip glued to a paper backing on which the name "Toyokuni" and the numbers 1909/90 are written in pencil below the lower edge of the print. Each is a portrait of a Kabuki actor in front of a landscape/seascape.
