A pretty naive-style scene in which three young ladies are digging for clams on a beach, one of whom is pointing to a ship in full sail on the rosy horizon. Oil on canvas, not signed, on stretchers and in a gilt frame with gilt gesso ornamentation, 9-1/2" x 13-1/2" canvas size, with frame overall 14" x 18".

46. William John Edmondson (American, Cleveland School, 1868-1966)
An idyllic scene. Oil on canvas mounted onto masonite, signed in the lower right corner, framed, 10" x 8", with frame overall 14-1/4" x 12-1/4". Nymphs and a flute playing Pan bathe and relax on the shore of a lake. Edmondson was born in Ohio in 1868 and spent the majority of his time working in Cleveland. His oeuvre includes still lifes, landscapes, and finely executed figures and portraits.

A forest stream with rapids. Oil on canvas over paperboard, signed on the lower left edge, framed in a wide frame with cast ornamentation in a bronzed finish, 11" x 13-3/4" canvasboard size, with frame overall 17-1/2" x 20-1/2". Possibly painted on Monhegan Island during 1913 when the artist was known to concentrate on dramatic close ups. The painting has, until now, resided in a private Staten Island residence.
