Green cloth with gilt letters on cover and spine, figured endpapers. Extensive descriptions of The Philippines, Hawaii, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Isles of Pines, etc. as recently acquired by the United States, with hundreds of b/w photo illustrations, many full page color photos with tissue guards and color maps.

Gilt top edge; other edges deckled. 1050. Chaim Gross (American, 1904 - 1991) "The Jewish Holidays" a Suite of Eleven Lithographs


This suite of ten original lithographs, plus title page of the Jewish Holidays was created by Chaim Gross in Paris in 1968 for Associated American Artists. The artist was assisted by the master lithographer, Marcel Salinas. The lithographs were printed on the presses of Georges Trotingnon and Lucien Detruit. The typography for the text was composed by hand and printed on the presses of Pierre jean Mathan on velin pur Chiffon des Papeteries de Lana. Suite number 79 out of 200, each suite contains eleven lithographs, each individual lithograph is signed, numbered and titled by the artist. The stones and plates used in this suite have been erased. Grey cloth clamshell box, artist name in gilt letters on recto, spine with the artist name and title of the suite in gilt letters. Printed on Riverie paper, unbound folios. Foreword by Rabbi Avraham Soltes. Measures approx. 26" x 20".

The book is bound by Smith Settle in contemporary leather with applied details; Zerkall mould-made paper; deckled endpapers. Frontispiece: Fittleworth, 1953. The book includes fifty wood engravings by Gwenda Morgan, a British illustration artist.

Easthampton: Warwick Press, 1985. Edition of 75. Measures approx. 11-3/4" x 9". Vermillion red cloth clamshell with an applied green leather decoration with gilt lettering on the spine. Maroon velvet lining on the interior. The book is bound in green leather with an abstract decoration in leather of various colors. Deckled end-papers. Seventy five copies of "She is My Bright and Smiling and Shy Dear" have been designed, illustrated printed by Carol J. Blinn at Warwick Press in Easthampton, Massachusetts. The type is Jan van Kimpen's Spectrum, the text paper is handmade Japanese ivory Glazed with dyed paper inserts. The binding paper is Kuzuryu Beige and the illustration paper is Fabriano Artistico Watercolor. The illustrations, printed from cuts made from the original brush and ink drawings, are hand water-colored.
