993. An Early 19th Century Chinese Famille Rose Vase
An early 19th Century Chinese Famille Rose vase, in polychrome glazed decoration with a pale greenish ground, 17-1/4"H x 7" in diameter at the widest, baluster shaped with two winged floral-form handles at the neck. The sides are decorated with finely painted courtly scenes surrounded by foliate designs, pictorial medallions and birds. The details of the painting are minute and highly decorative. Markings under the glaze on the bottom in blue are indistinct.

A large Famille Rose bowl on a dark wood oriental stand, polychrome glazed porcelain with foliate embellished areas surrounding pictorial images of Chinese people in various activities. The bowl measures approx. 12" in diameter at the lip, 5"H x 5-3/4" in diameter at the foot. The base is approx. 2"H.

995. A Non-Matching Pair of Chinese Porcelain Famille Rose Vases, ca. Late 19th Century
A similar but not identical pair of tall vases of a bulbous form with narrow neck and flared opening. The front of each vase features a flower arrangement in a decorative basket; calligraphy on verso. One of the vases has a pair of faux handles applied to the sides. Inside of the opening there is a red wax maker's seal. Both have a decorative carved wood base. The taller vase measures approx. 17"T x 7"W, the smaller one is approx. 16-1/2"T x 7-1/2"W.

996. A Pair of Chinese Ginger Jars With Lids on Stands
A pair of large Chinese ginger jars with lids, on dark teakwood carved stands. Polychrome glazed incised designs of Foo Dogs, florals, clouds and geometric motifs, approx. 9-1/2"H x 7-1/2" in diameter at the widest point. Bases are 1-1/2"H. The multicolored animals float ona background of mottled aqua glaze. The foot is white, and the collar at the top has a green and lavender geometric embellishment with a yellow lip and a deep ledge around the inside in which the cover rests. This trough is decorated with scattered flower shapes. The cover is decorated with similar Foo Dogs and is surmounted by a disc shaped handle in cinnabar glaze.

An antique oriental glazed porcelain vase, in a slightly celadon color glaze, decorated on one side with oriental calligraphy and on the other with landscapes and figures, 22-3/4"H x 9" diameter at the widest point, with pierced bat-wing ornaments as handles on either side of the neck. Not marked underneath. Interior is glazed.

A lovely 19th Century Japanese Celadon porcelain vase, of baluster shape, with two applied "handles" shaped like lion heads with rings, in a pretty pale celadon glaze with hand decorations of yellow birds on flowering branches and with Japanese calligraphy in black and in cinnabar red, with gilding to the upper lip and worn gilding on the lion heads, 16-3/4"H x 7-1/2" in diameter at the widest point.
