The bottles are of flattened ovoid form; one of the bottles features carved bird design and the other a woman playing a flute. Green, possibly nephrite, stone and metal stoppers with attached spoons. No marks found. Measures approx. 2"T x 2-3/4"W x 5/8"D.

957. "The Eight Horses of Muhang" Painted Porcelain Snuff Bottle, ca. Qianlong Period, 1800-1880
Molded porcelain snuff bottle with the Qianlong Nianzhi mark in iron red on bottom. Each horse is uniquely decorated with the horses jumping, grazing, playing and rolling on the ground. Rock formations, flowers and tress throughout with small red fence in background. Blue enameled stopper with gilt border. Apprx 2-5/16"T x 1-3/4"W.

Carved and molded with an overall design of Buddhist lions and tasseled brocade balls on a cloud ground between Ruyi borders. Unfinished without glaze or pigments, with carved coral stopper in metal fitting with rope edge.
