Squared tapered front legs terminating to spade feet. Vase shaped arm supports attached to the front legs. Diamond shape open back splat. 805. A Pair of Continental Carved Wood and Upholstered Chairs
A pair of antique Continental chairs, in carved walnut wood, with scrolling gadrooned exposed wood sides, exposed wood platform, straight splayed back legs and a modified pad foot front leg. The upholstery on these chairs must be replaced, but it should also be noted that originally they would have had puffy loose seat pillows conforming to the shape of the seat. The chairs measure 22-1/2"W x 21"D x 30"H. Note that the back legs are plain because the usage of these types of chairs was always in an alcove or against a wall where they would not easily be seen.
