1074. An Ansonia Shelf Clock

An attractive Ansonia shelf clock, with the case made of black onyx in several parts, with chip carved and gilded ornamentation and plum colored marble end pieces embellishing the upper portion. The face of the clock is white enamel with black Roman numerals and part of the works is visible, the face bears the trademark of the maker. The face is covered by a hinged circular beveled glass door surrounded by a beaded gilt brass besel, and the face inside is surrounded by a gilt brass egg and dart relief motif which is approx. 1/2" wide. The back of the case haas a pierced hinged metal door, 5" in diameter, that is backed with a piece of cloth; to let sound through. The overall measures 9-1/2"H x 9-3/8"W x 5-3/4"D.
