A beautiful and rare hand wrought antique Dutch sterling silver basket, marked 800 on the inside bottom, of ovoid shape with scalloped edges outlined with roses in relief, with intricate piercework on the sides with swags of flowers and baskets tied with bows, with scrolling foliate forms below and another rose motif with piercework below that. The bottom is a relief picture of putti with a bird in a basket and a birdcage, one feeding a small bird, with cupid holding his bow standing in the center of the group. This pretty lacy basket measures 8-3/8"W x 6-1/2" x 1-1/2"D, and weighs 5.8 troy oz.
