| 613. A Herend Porcelain Jardinaire
A Herend Porcelain jardinaire, with the Chinese Bouquet Green decoration (or "Apponyi Vert" pattern), in the shape of a flaring circular vase with gilt lion's paw feet, standing on a square base, 5-3/4" in diameter at the lip, 5-1/4"H. A rare retired shape. #6401-0-00. The centre of the design shows a motif in Chinese style: the Fleurs des Indes (Flowers of the Indies) motif of a peony surrounded by leaves. Round the edge of the well runs a garland of stylized leaves, broken periodically by gilded and incised rosettes. The origin of the pattern is associated with Count Albert Apponyi, for whom this simplified version of Fleurs des Indes was first prepared. The Apponyi pattern comes in nine colour variants. 200/400 Sold $172.50 back to catalog |
