791. A Fine English Chest of Drawers, English Circa 18th Century

Possibly Gillows, in the Hepplewhite style. Mahogany chest with fine satinwood banding. One long drawer over three long drawers, all missing escutcheons. Carved stiles with blossoms over knoped feet. Block rear feet. Locking mechanisms intact, however possibly not working. Upper drawer has had the knobs moved and with separate compartments. Wonderful use of material with attention to timber grain. Back with affixed label from Italian antique dealers. Approx. 37"T x 53"W x 22-1/2"D. On display in the Pittsburgh PA gallery.
