416. A Rare Chinese Jesuit Decorated Porcelain Jar with Wooden Lid and Stand
A rare Chinese Jesuit decorated porcelain jar with a dark brown wood lid and a modern dark stained 3" diameter stand, the sides of the white porcelain decorated in multicolor glazes depicting birds, cherry blossom branches and dragon flies accented by blue, yellow and pink geometric designs and a small amount of gilt detailing. On one side is a red outlined gilt cartouche. The vase alone measures approx. 4-1/2"H to the top of the handle and the body 3-1/2" in diameter at the widest. Marked on the bottom with a Tao Kuang mark.

421. A Monumental Chinese Carved Tusk Meiren, ca. 19th Century
An impressive carved tusk figure of a Merien. She is depicted in a flowing robe with numerous tassels and garment decorations. The body is slightly bent to the right from the natural form of the tusk. She is holding a branch with lotus flowers in her right hand and indicating a Buddhist sign with her left. The underside of the carving is signed by the artist/carver. Overall measures approx. 2'-1½" tall.

422. A Carved Ivory Tusk With A Carved Wood Base
A beautifully carved pre-ban ivory tusk, with a dark wood base carved to support it. The tusk measures approx. 17"W x 4-5/8"H at the highest point x 2-3/4"W at the widest point. The deeply carved scene depicts a battle with four warriors on horseback, and one kneeling with a shield and a sword to the left. There are indications of mountains and trees as a backdrop, and to the far right a twin-roofed fortress. The back and underside are embellished with carving as well, though there was no signature found.

A superbly hand painted enameled snuff bottle from Beijing, China, with a coral stopper surmounted by a pearl, marked in cobalt with Chien Lung period Chinese characters on the bottom, overall approx. 2-5/8"H x 1-3/4"W x 1"D. The minutely detailed and shaded paintings enameled in colors over white on the sides depict happy women and children in garden settings, above and below which are finely painted designs in coral color enamel. The top lip and the footrim are gold.

The footrim is also plum color. The replacement top is a scrolling meshwork of silver surmounted by a cabachon of turquoise. Overall the piece measures 3-1/8"H x 1-1/8" in diameter at the widest point.
