Inferior paper quality, bound in full leather with simple embossed and gilt lettering on spine. Two pages in front have paste down newspaper articles about the ban of this novel. Interior pages toned, otherwise very good.

A miniature persian Koran (Quran) illuminated manuscript, each page with gilt outlines and red pigment and gilt accents. Title pages elaborately decorated with bright polychrome gouache and gilt elaborate arabesques pattern. Bound in leather, boards decorated with hand-painted flower arrangements over brown background with bonze speckles. Fly leafs stamped with an (export?) stamp and a label "Made in Iran, No. 485". Measures overall approx. 3-1/4" x 2" x 7/8".
