A Cuyahoga River scene. Charcoal drawing on illustration board, signed in the lower right corner, framed in a simple black wood frame, 13" x 17" board size, with framing overall 14-1/4" x 18-1/2". A strong composition of a scene in Cleveland, Ohio, with an oar boat in the left foreground on the Cuyahoga River, with the bridge spanning the composition and a lift bridge in the middle ground. Silhouetted against the distant sky is the Terminal Tower, landmark of Cleveland's Public Square built in 1928-1929.

A New England landscape with a red farmhouse and a pond. Watercolor on paper, signed in black pigment lower right. In a wood frame with a white and grey mat; not under glass. Image measures approx. 14" x 17"; framed overall approx. 23-1/2" x 27-1/2". John Hare specialized in watercolor painting, he is mostly associated with New England harbor scenes and landscapes. Hare received his training in commercial art in Brooklyn at the Pratt Institute and also studied at the Art Students League in Manhattan. His work is in the collections of the Lowe Art Museum and the Lightner Museum in Florida, and the Smith College Museum of Art in Massachusetts.
