327. Champleve Case Clock, ca. 19th Century


A Crystal Regulator by Louis LeRoy, Paris, ca. 1879. Bronze and cloisonne by Barbedienne, with a signed miniature portrait on ivory in the pendulum. This clock features a tubular case with glass sides, two doors, and a gilt brass frame embellished with bands of champleve. Face of clock is surrounded by a band of floral champleve cloisonne with a delicate starbust in center. Signed "Le Roy Paris". Pendulum bears is a hand painted portrait on ivory of young woman and is signed "Lamy". Back has K 6/12, a clock master's mark probably from a repair. Back has "Made in Paris" and model number 24604 11. Measures approx. 12"H x 8"W.

Elegant 8-day gilt bronze skeleton clock from the French Directoire period in D'ore bronze with a silk suspension. Skeleton clock refers to design where one can see the mechanical movement. The Directoire period was following the French revolution when royal decoration was replaced by classic ornament. Clock is designed in two round levels. Upper gallery bears clock face which stands on four feet. Face is porcelain, crowned with scrolling floral decoration. Pendulum is a starburst featuring a androgynous face in the center. Bottom level has a six petaled flower in center. Measures approx. 13-1/4"H x 5"W.

A large trumeau mirror with an arched top, with a gilt beaded framed painting of a dog next to a still life and some game, with a mirror framed in a gilt beaded frame in the lower portion, with carved gilt accents and a soft green antiqued glaze, the panels on either side of the painting marbilized (faux painted) in green topped by gilt carved foliate forms. The frame is stamped "Made In France" on the reverse. Overall the trumeau measures approx. 62"H x 48"W, the painting measures approx. 33" x 25" and the mirror measures approx. 15" x 25".

A fine antique French Empire trumeau mirror, with a pastoral landscape oil on canvas above and a silvered mirror below, in a French blue antiqued painted finish with architectural panel moldings and details in gilt, with a gilt crown molding on the top, the mirror surmounted by an urn/basket of flowers shape with gilt swagged cording and tassels at the sides, and the side panels containing urns of flowers and foliate ornamentation. Overall the trumeau measures 71" X 45", and comes through a Charleston, South Carolina estate.

Highly decorative jewelry box of rectangular shape with gilded sides embossed with scroll and foliage pattern. Top of the hinged lid decorated with a hand-painted porcelain plaque depicting a charming scene of a couple resting in a garden, lady is reading a book and the gentleman playing a guitar, signed "Polyet" lower right. The plaque is mounted with a decorative band and is surrounded with four floral swags. Interior lined with emerald green velvet lining. The box rests on four bun feet. Overall measures approx. 3-1/2"T x 8-1/2"W x 7"L.

341. Two Dutch Tobacco Boxes, ca. 18th Century


Both boxes are of elongated shape with rounded edges and hinged lids; brass top and bottom and copper sides. The boxes are engraved with various decorations. First box depicts a musical scenes with scrollwork surround; engraved scrollwork on the sides as well. Second box depicts an engraved New Testament scenes on top and bottom; sides are engraved with text in Dutch. Measure approx. 1-3/8" x 2" x 6-1/4"; and 1-3/8" x 1-3/4" x 7" respectively.
