The scene is probably India-possibly Rajasthan. There is an Indian Yogi, sitting on the verandah of the haveli. The women are Indian, wearing saris, with others figures, wearing more local clothing. The man in white is wearing a dhoti. Canvas size is 28" x 22-1/2", with gilt frame with nameplate below overall 35-1/2" x 30".

An interior scene with an older gentleman reading. Oil on canvas, mounted onto paperboard, signed in the lower left corner, dated '69, framed, 21" x 16" board size, 23" x 18" with framing overall. An older gentleman in the center of the composition is highlighted, while the other figures are in dimmer light, probably in a tavern interior. To the left are seated at a table and a tavern maid is seated behind a curtain to the right. Stamped on the back of the board is a notation that the painting was restored at the Copley Gallery in Boston, July 31, 1917.

"Lady In A Sleigh". Oil on wood panel, no signature found, framed in an ornately formed gilt frame, with a nameplate on the lower edge, approx. panel size 12-1/4" x 8", with framing overall 16-3/4" x 12-3/4". Very careful attention to detail has been used in rendering this coquettishly smiling young beauty as she sits in her sleigh, including her fair and rosy face, her costume and her jewelry. In the distance other carriages and horses populate the snowy landscape.

35. John Sargent Noble, RBA (British, 1846-1896)
"Otterhounds". Oil on canvas, signed in the lower left corner, 30" x 25" canvas size, with coved and beaded gilded wood frame overall, 35-1/2" x 30-3/4", with nameplate at on the frame. Four beautifully painted dogs rest in various postures before an open stable door, through which another dog can be seen sleeping. To the right hangs a red coat and a bucket and push-broom below. The door and door frame have been roughly coated with metal sheeting to protect it from wear. Similar devices were used by Noble in many of his compositions. The frame has a label from Richard Green on the reverse.

A meeting on a country lane. Oil on canvas, signed and dated in the lower right corner, '81, framed in a period Victorian ornate gilt frame which appears to have had another layer of frame at the outer edge, 10" x 14" canvas size, with framing overall 17" x 21". An idyllic scene in a misty and softly lit lane; a young girl seated side-saddle on her horse is being given directions by a small boy with a market basket standing in the lane. Frame has a nameplate at the lower center. There is a partial label from a Philladelphia gallery (not enough to identify) on the back of the frame.
