"Daisseau de Guerre Hollandis, Anno 1633". A nine panel painted and silver-stained glass window depicting a returning war ship on the upper six panels, and a commemorative medallion with C-scrollwork surround on the lower three. Anchor and double-headed eagle coat of arms on the upper corners. Overall this piece measures approx. 14-1/2" x 12".

A pair of finely painted decorative stained glass window panels. The first panel depicts Jesus with his followers; please note the architectural details on top margin of the piece. Second panel depicts an ecclesial scene with four bishops at a closed quarters ceremony. The panels are made of colored glass various size pieces with extensive silver stain hand-painting. Top of the panels are fitted with loops for hanging wire. Overall this panel measures approx. 17-1/4" x 12".

Classical Harvest subject in a monochrome palette. Possibly part of a larger mural installation, this image appears to be abbreviated at the left and right. Figures included dancers, reclining woman, small child eating grapes and feeding a lamb; all in a lush landscape with foreground foliage and background trees and water. No marks found. Housed in a gold-tone metal frame. Overall measures approx. 32"H x 28"W.

315. A Magnificent Tiffany Studios Clock Garniture Set


A magnificent Tiffany & Company clock garniture set, ca. 1870's, in black patinated bronze, black polished marble with gild bronze accents and details, consisting of the clock set into a base in the shape of a casket on top of which sits a bronze figural of Antony and Cleopatra, signed "Hurel, sculp." (French, 19th Century) on the base, with a pair of double-handled vases on stands in bronze and black marble. The clock base measures 20"W x 6-1/2"D x 8-5/8"H, the sculpture measures 12" x 5" x 14-1/4". The vases measure 13-1/4"H x 7" square at the outside edge of the base. All of the pieces are elaborately detailed in the Egyptian Revival style with classical masks and figures, architectural designs, lion's paw feet. Some of the polished surfaces are lightly carved and gilded with foliate designs. The clock has a black face with gilt Roman numerals and hands, and is marked inside the back "Tiffany Co MFG". The clock has its pendulum and key and chimes, runs.

A large slant top bronze box, or coffer with pietra dura inserts on lid, two medallion on front and two medallions on hinged handles. Interior is very worn with damaged blue velvet, bottom also lined. No marks found. With locking mechanism and key. Approx. 6-3/8"T x 8-3/4"W. Top medallion approx. 2-3/4" x 5". All medallions with flowers.

Persian

318. Persian "Nakshe" (Woman's Trousering) Silk Embroidery, ca. 18th Century


Persian naqsh-e colored silk embroidery on cotton. Parallel diagonal bands of alternating width with intricate floral pattern over blue ground. Rouge silk backing. Applied silk embroidered perimeter. Overall the piece measures approx. 24" x 33-1/2". Embroidered women's trousers had only the two outer leg panels which were decorated, and even then it was only carried up the leg to a level with the natural crutch. These decorated panels sustained very little wear so when the rest of the trousers had deteriorated, the panels were recovered and another pair of trousers was made incorporating them. Many of these embroidered panels have survived to date and were extensively collected as decorative pieces.

A naqsh-e colored silk embroidery on cotton weft. Applied embroidered silk band on perimeter and pale green silk backing. Traditional design with parallel diagonal stripes of alternating widths with intricate floral pattern over olive green and rustic blue ground. Measures approx. 23-1/2" x 28-1/2".

Both embroideries are on cotton weft and with applied ribbon on the perimeter. Backed with with flannel cotton backing. Traditional design with diagonal band with tightly embroidered floral pattern. The color palette of both pieces includes organic earthy tones with gold and red accents. Larger one measures approx. 11-1/2" x 14-1/4", smaller one approx. 9-1/2" x 13".

A pair of Bouraine silvered bronze fighting birds with ivory beaks, mounted onto a black marble base, each marked on the underside, "France" and maker's mark, each bird approx. 12"L, overall the mounted pair measures approx. 27" x 4" x 8-1/2"H. The name "Bouraine" is etched into the marble base.

This pair of porcelain medallions with portraits of Marie Antoinette (possibly after Elizabeth Vigee Le Brun, 1783) depicted in a walking costume and Princesse de Lamballe depicted with roses in her hair. Portrait of Marie Antoinette is initialed "R.F." on the lower right. Both measure approx. 3-1/4" x 2-5/8".

A French bronze clock garniture set, with the clock works made by Japy Freres et Cie, ca. 1870. The clock in a urn shape encrusted with gilt and red patinated bronze, with lions' head ornaments on either side and dragon handles above. The clock face is ivory enamel with Arabic numerals surrounded by a gilt egg and dart bezel and covered with beveled glass, approx. 23-3/4"H. The two flanking pieces are baluster shaped candelabra with like decoration, each approx. 27-1/2"H and with four candle arms.

A three-piece clock garniture set in light green marble with brass, copper and other metal accents, the clock in an architectural shape with columns and a pediment on a plinth base witha frieze of classical figures inset. The clock face is gilt and surrounded by an egg & dart relief gilded bezel, covered by a beveled glass. The Arabic numbers on the face are scuffed. The accompanying pieces are in the shape of double handled urns on pedestals and have matching detailing. The clock measures approx. 15-1/2"H x 11"W x 6"D, and the other pieces measure approx. 13"H x 4"D x 5"W. The clock maker inscribed on the face is Chas. W. Schumann, N.Y.
