A richly embellished dore metal box, the interior with an aromatic wood lining and the lid fitted underneath with a silver tone metal frame and removable screen with blotter paper behind. The wood is joined with pegged wood at the corners. The exterior of the box is carved in an elaborate relief depicting an abundance of classical images including people, architectural sections, statuary, Roman standards, satyrs, putti, griffins, bulls and other creatures.
