A pair of bird lithographs "Budytes Rayi (Yellow Wagtail)" and "Budytes Flava (Grey Headed Wagtail)" (plate 119) from the "The Birds of Great Britain" hand-colored lithographs circa 1862-73. Both are framed under glass, with a cream color mat, in silvered wood frames. Images measure approx. 13" x 19"; framed overall approx. 19-1/2" x 25-1/2". John Gould has become known as one of the foremost orthinological artists. Gould created almost 3000 images that were made into hand-color lightographic plates of birds and other animals.
