The young lass has a contemplative expression, her blond tresses flowing loosely over her shoulders, rests against a tree trunk at the edge of a wooded area. Beyond in the rosy distance is the indication of a mountainous panorama. Scenes of idyllic rustic life have been popular since the early 19th Century in England, from which comes a wealth of irresistable paintings of people in all phases of the country life still enjoyed today.
