A Handsome Pair of Square Back Armchairs A handsome pair of French-style square back armchairs, painted white and antiqued in the Gustavian manner, the outswept arms curve down from the back and slope toward the legs. The legs are slightly turned and tapering and are decorated with carved fluting and a rosette at the top. The other carved embellishments include a twisting ribbon motif and a cluster of roses at the top of the back.
