An oval portrait miniature of an unidentified lady. She wears revealing clothes and a beautiful pearl necklace and a direct expression; her hair runs provocatively over her shoulders. Oil on ivory or cellulose, under glass. In a brass frame with an X pattern. Sticker on the yellow silk verso reads "Friedrich Heinrich Füger, 1751-1818, German". Overall the piece measures approx. 3" x 2-1/2".

There is an inscription in French authenticating the painting hand lettered on a painted patch on verso, signed and dated 1864. The pretty child with his mother and father fishing in a stream are beautifully executed. Prov: Rowena Paton Manuel, passed down in the family.

Born in Tennessee, Fulkerson moved to California and for most of her life was known as a California landscape painter.

Oil on wood panels of a man and of a woman in 18th Century garb, the woman signed on the lower right corner and the man signed on the lower left corner, each is framed, approx. 8-5/8" x 6-1/2" panel size, with frames overall approx. 12-1/4" x 10". Each is stamped "Made In France" on the back of the frame and on the back of the panel as well. The pretty lady is in a frilly pink gown and carries a mask as from a grand ball. The man is smoking a long-stem clay pipe and wears a frock coat with a red vest.

A naively painted scene with a lugubrious winter sky over the distant mountains. A rosy glow surrounds the church steeple. A small group of figures with a sled and a dog are shown in the churchyard.

"Elegantes Dans Un Parc". Oil on canvas (oval) mounted down onto board, signed in the lower right, framed in the original ornate gilt frame with a spandrel, picture size approx. 17" x 20-3/4", with framing overall 23" x 26-1/2". Prov: Galerie Werner; Paris, France/Pittsburgh, PA. LeRoux was a notable painter of historical scenes, landscapes and an illustrator. He exhibited in the important Salons of his time, the most famous being the Salon des Artists Francais. Here he won a medal in 1903 and 1911. He also won a medal in Rome in 1906 and the Henner prize in 1920. LeRoux was installed in the French Legion of Honor. His work may be found in the Musee de Petit Palais and the Museum of Modern Art, both in Paris, as well as smaller museums and collections throughout the world.

Portrait of a young boy. Oil on wood panel, with sketches of a child's face and eyes on verso, not signed, framed in a new gilt frame, panel size approx. 14" x 10", with framing overall approx. 19" x 15-1/2". The panel is stamped "Lechertier" on the edge of the back. This indicates it was made by Lechertier Barbe & Co. (or Lechertier Barbe Ltd.) famous dealer in artist's supplies and framer in England from the early 18th Century through the 1970's. Famous artists such as Whistler, Munn, Rosetti, and Winston Churchill were recorded as patrons of this concern. This portrait was possibly executed by Vanessa Bell, also known to have been a customer. Her principally known work was a portrait of Aldous Huxley, though she also painted portraits of her family members in some of works.
