265. An Exquisite Russian Cloisonné and Enamel Tobacco Box Made for Tiffany & Co, Moscow, ca. 1887 Round stout shape box with a removable lid. The lid is embellished with a finely painted enamel portrait medallion depicting a Russian merchant's wife, wearing a kokoshnikk and traditional attire. Overall pan-slavic cloisonné enamel design in royal blue, dark turquoise, burnt orange, black, white and green. Bottom of the box is monogrammed "MLV" in script, gift engraving "From M.A.B. A Burlwood Humidor Box An attractive table-top cigarette box, with burlwood veneer, ivory or bone stringing and an oval carved pierced medallion inset into the center of the top depicting three girls dancing, backed by brown velvet. The interior lid of the box is covered with brown silk moiree, lightly padded. The base of the box contains an aparatus of extending brown tooled leather platforms to contain and serve the cigarettes. The box has a locking mechanism, but lacks the key.
