376. A Large Ironstone Glazed Meat Platter


A large ironstone meat platter with a deeply flaring shape set up on three curved legs, with impressed and painted marks on the underside and the maker's insignia on the underside of the lip in a black glaze. The front of the platter is decorated with a black transfer decoration with hand painted cinnabar and ochre color accents. The pattern is called "Satsuma" and is a handsome combination of oriental motifs with an Aesthetic Movement feeling. Overall the platter measures approx. 23-1/2" x 18-1/2" x 3-3/8"H.

377. An Early Royal Doulton Porcelain Vase


Stout baluster form, upper part with a small slightly flared rim glazed in blue, tapered body is decorated with a delicate floral pattern in pastel glazes and gilt accents over beige textured ground. Bottom bears the following marks: imprinted "Royal Doulton/ England", imprinted "BW", "TG", "316Y"; hand-written "334. b. .1." in black pigment. The imprinted mark was introduced in the latter part of 1901 to mark the grant of the Royal Warrant by King Edward VII together with the specific right to use the word ROYAL to designate Doulton products. This mark was in general use at Burslem between 1902 and 1922. On smaller wares, only the bottom half of this mark (i.e. omitting the lion and crown) is found. Measures approx. 3-5/8"T.

A Cowan Pottery tea tile designed by Thelma Winter, approx. 6-1/4" in diameter, on four feet, approx. 5/8"H, with a relief design of two fish with flowers and greens behind, ca. 1930, hand decorated, No. X-21. Impressed Cowan Pottery marks on the underside under the glaze.

A richly glazed porcelain vase in cobalt to French blue, with an overaly of embossed and gilt metal at the rim and the base and running up the sides. The designs are Victorian Neo-Classical in style, with an image of a lady on a horse jumping over a fence with a fox repeated around the body (x5). Overall the vase measures approx. 8-3/4"H x 5" in diameter at the widest point. There were no maker's marks found.

Porcelain bracket shape knife rests designed with an acanthus leaf shape finial and decorated with burnt orange pigment on the sides. Bottom of each piece is marked with an over-glaze red KPM stamp, a blue underglaze mark, and a decorator's hand-painted mark "1/59". Each rest measures approx. 3-1/4"L x 5/8"W x 1-1/8"T.

A fine porcelain figurine of a cherub trying to find his balance on a golden globe. The figurine rests in a shallow scalloped bowl accented with gilt and pierced dots. Both pieces are marked with a green underglaze "Hutschenreuter Germany Kunstabteilung", sticker on the underside reads "Lorenz Hutschenreuter Kunstabteilung/ 02480028068" (handwritten). The figurine of the cherub measures approx. 6-1/2"T and the bowl is approx. 1-1/2"T x 7" in diameter.

A miniature tea set in the "Old Imari" pattern by Royal Crown Derby. The set includes a teapot (approx. 2-3/4"H x 4-1/4"W x 3/4"L), a sugar bowl (approx. 1"H x 2"W), a teacup with saucer (approx. 1"T x 2-1/2"W), creamer (approx. 1-1/2"H), a tray (approx. 3/4"H x 6"W x 7-1/2"L). All of the pieces above are marked with a red Royal Crown Derby Porcelain mark,with decorator's mark in red, green and gilt pigments. The tankard (approx. 1-1/2"T) is an earlier piece, and bears green Royal Crown Derby insignia.
