| 63. Laszlo Neogrady (Hungarian, 1900-1962)
A Mountainscape. Oil on canvas, signed in the lower right corner, framed in an ornate gilt frame, canvas size approx. 23" x 31", with framing overall 28-1/4" x 36-1/2". There are some ink-stamped numbers and a circular stamp which is illegible on the back of the canvas. Laszlo Neogrady was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1900. He was the son of the artist Anatal Neogrady and he studied painting at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts under the artist Ede Ballo. Begining in 1922, Laszlo Neogrady exhibited his work at the Hungarian Art Gallery. He specialised in painting naturalistic landscapes many of which depicted mountain and forest scenes in the snow. The artists painting technique creates an almost three dimensional effect in these works. His use of light is usually very dramatic and atmospheric. This painting is a fine example of the light effects and drama in which Neogrady became famous. 1,000/2,000 Sold $1,610.00 back to catalog |
