308. A Fine Enameled Silver Cigarette Case, Austrian, ca. 1867

A rectangular silver cigarette case, slightly arched for the purpose of being more comfortable to carry in a pocket. Front features a finely enameled decoration of two semi-nude ladies fencing. "Head of Diana" silver hallmark dates the piece to ca. 1867, unidentified silversmith's mark "J.R"(?), thumb-piece hallmarked with two letters "v" within rectangular cartouche and silver quality mark "???/84" within an cartouche. Measures approx. 3-1/2" x 3-1/4" x 1/2".
