An oval carved wax portrait of a lady in natural on a brown oval backing, framed under glass in a period shadowbox frame with a tan velvet deeply beveled mat, a gilt liner, and a black painted ornate outer frame. Overall the frame measures approx. 17" x 14-3/4", and the wax portrait measures approx. 7" x 5". The sitter's name, Mrs. Stanbrooke, the date 1855, and the artists signature are incised in the wax behind the lady. 300/600 Sold $299.00 back to catalog |
