788. An Impressive Pair Of Tall Famille Rose Porcelain Vases, Chinese, ca. Late 19th Early 20th Century
Two tall baluster shape vases with flared rims with creatures applied to the sides to create faux handles and on the shoulders for decoration. The overall ground of the vases is painted with traditional Chinese floral motifs. The sides are decorated with panels depicting courtly scenes with scholars and children at play. Bottom decorated with geometric motifs. Overall the pair measures approx. 24"T x 9-1/2"W at shoulders.

789. A Finely Carved Hornbill Skull, Chinese, ca. Late 19th Century
A finely carved hornbill skull featuring an almost three-dimentional scene of a young couple standing outside of a pavilion, surrounded with trees, foliage and river. Top of the skull is decorated with Chinese symbols, possibly a poem. The eye sockets are set with tortoise disks. Overall without the base measures approx. 4"T x 8"L x 2-1/2"W. The Hornbill ivory is very rare and was extremely popular in China and the East Indies. The ivory, also known as Ho-ting, is a hard substance which is contained above the beak of the helmeted Hornbill. Gradually, as the bird grows older it develops a helmet on the top of the skull, which turns into a gleaming red color. Hornbill ivory first appeared in Chinese records during the Ming Dynasty, reserved only for royalty in hair ornaments, buttons and general decoration.

Cleverly carved incorporating two colors of this agate specimen; milky white portion carved into a double vase and a pelican figure, while the rusty red portion is carved into peach blossoms and meandering foliage. 792. A Well-Carved Rose Quartz Tripod Censor, Chinese
A very well-carved and proportioned rose quartz covered incense burner. The squat shape base rests on three slightly concave elongated legs and is further enhanced by two creature head handles. A foo dog figure graces the bell shaped lid with a hollow center. Overall body is accented with incised decorations. Measures approx. 8"T x 7-1/2"W with the handles. A very pretty piece.

A 19th Century Chinese 4-panel folding screen with one side in red lacquer and gilt painted finish, the other side with circular and rectangular inset panels with inscribed pictorial designs painted in polychrome with gilt details. Each panel has a scrolled apron and brass ornamental covers on the feet. Overall the panels measure 71" x 18-3/4" each, and are not currently attached to each other.

An Oriental box on a stand, a wedding chest, covered in a hand painted material affixed to the box. The scenes depicted are of the walls of buildings with figures and foliage illuminating the composition. The box sits on an Oriental styled wooden stand and has brass handles on either side and a brass lock and lock plate. A charming accessory piece, measuring approx. 24" x 14-3/4" x 19"H with the stand.
