720. A Set Of Six Arne Jacobsen Designed Chairs

A set of six armless "Grand Prix" chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen in a soft teak color, each measuring approx. 18"W x 17"D x 31"H, with tapering bent plywood legs in an "X" formation attached to the bottom of the bent plywood shells with the original wood and metal plates and braced with the original rubber grommets. Each chair has the aluminum label affixed to the bottom from Fritz Hansen, made in Denmark.

The laminated chair (model 4130) won the Grand Prix award at the XI Triennale in Milan in 1957, hence it's name. Originally made completely in wood (beech, teak or upholstered) with wooden legs with triangular cuts (beech or teak-stained), later with steel legs (3130), as used on the 3107 chair.
