Page 31 with repair, light soiled throughout with foxing. Title page through page three repaired. This book represents the best of Miller's forceful, vigorous style. An advocate of the cause of the Modocs, Miller lived with them in a Quixotic attempt to form an Indian Republic among the Klamaths, Shatas & Modoc Squaw who helped him escape from jail and was subsequently killed by solders for her efforts.
